The Allergy/Immunology Division of St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital offers evaluation and treatment for patients with allergies, asthma, and immunological diseases. Following diagnosis, physicians create and discuss a specialized treatment plan with the patient, the patient’s family and referring physician. The Allergy/Immunology Division provides diagnosis and treatment for the following conditions and diseases in children and adults:

• Asthma
• Rhinitis (hay fever) and Sinusitis
• Cough
• Eczema (Dermatitis)
• Urticaria (Hives)
• Food allergy
• Insect allergy
• Drug allergy
• Conjunctivitis
• Frequent infections (primary immune deficiency)

Diagnosis of allergy and immunological disease may include the following:

• Allergy testing (usually skin and sometimes blood tests)
• Pulmonary function testing, including testing for exercise-related wheezing
• Rhinoscopy (examination of nasal passages with a special instrument)
• Food and drug challenges
• Evaluation of immunological competency
